This Day In Basketball History:
June 25,1999 - In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs’ Avery Johnson hits a baseline jumper with 47 seconds remaining to give his team the lead against the New York Knicks. The Spurs victory marks the first time a former ABA franchise won the NBA title. Tim Duncan is named the Finals MVP, after contributing 27.4 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in the series.
